Installation Guide

Required Tools & Materials: No power tools are required, however the following tools will be needed for best results.

4’ Level, Saw (Miter Saw, Jigsaw, Fine Tooth Hand Saw or Utility Knife), Pencil, J-roller, Dust Mask.

Prior To Installation: Please follow all pre-installation instructions.

Allow planks to acclimate by placing them in the installation location for 48-72 hours prior to installation.

Woody Walls Peel and Stick Wood Planks are suitable for a diverse variety of surfaces, including walls, ceilings, doors, backsplashes, kitchen cabinets, and headboards.

Inspect planks thoroughly prior to installation.

Use appropriate caution while working around wall outlets and light switches.

Maintain location temperature at 60-75ºF for a few days prior to installation, as well as during and after installation.

DO NOT install as flooring.

DO NOT install in locations with humidity above 80% (e.g. bathroom) or where the temperature exceeds 125ºF (e.g. near a fireplace or heater), unless you follow our additional instructions for these locations.

Installation Guide: For best results, please follow these instructions.

  1. Prior to installation, thoroughly clean the mounting surface. Remove all debris, dust, grease, cover plates, and protruding nails.
  2. Use planks from different bundles to ensure an even mix of colors.
  3. Dry-lay planks before permanently installing to create your desired pattern (see our Installation Designs section below), especially if you are working with multi-color planks.
  4. Using a pencil and a 4’ level, draw a line across the wall 5 inches below the ceiling to create a reference line.
  5. Using the reference line as a guide, begin with a starter row of planks. Peel the paper off the back to expose the adhesive and place the first plank in the starter row, groove side up, along your line. Press into place, then continue with each of the next planks in the row.
  6. The 3M adhesive is pressure sensitive. After placing your starter row, use the J-Roller to apply firm and steady pressure along the entire row of planks. Ensure that steady, even pressure is applied to the entire surface of the starter row.
  7. When installing your starter and bottom rows, cut the planks lengthwise using a jigsaw or table saw. When cutting or trimming planks, always use a dust mask to protect against inhaling any dust or debris. Use a sanding block to smooth edges if needed.

Care & Cleaning Instructions: Proper care and cleaning helps maximize durability and preserve a brand-new look.

Woody Walls Peel and Stick Wood Planks are made from real pine wood. For best care results, use a dry cloth for cleaning.

Do not use any abrasive cleaners, polishes, waxes or oil-based products on planks.

Wall décor, such as mirrors, pictures, TVs or electronics, and shelves can be mounted by drilling through the planks and using industry standard techniques for installation on the underlying substrate.

Installation Designs: We recommend choosing from the following designs for your installation.

Warning: Drilling, sawing, sanding or machining wood products can expose you to wood dust, a substance known to the State of California to cause cancer. Avoid inhaling wood dust. Use a dust mask or other safeguards for personal protection. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov/wood.

FAQs

Woody Walls peel and stick wood panels are a fast, convenient way to add style and flair to any space. With a variety of colors and textures to choose from, you can transform any wall into an eye-catching statement piece in less than a day. Are you considering adding peel and stick wood panels to your home or office space but still have questions? Here are the answers to the more frequently asked questions about our peel and stick wood panels.

Do Peel and Stick Wood Panels Damage Walls?

Woody Walls peel and stick panels utilize semi-permanent self-adhesive tape for their application. If you choose to remove Woody Walls panels, you will need to pry them from the wall. Once the planks are detached, the adhesive will need to be removed from the work surface, and some minor repairs may need to be made. To reduce damage, we recommend installing plywood on the wall before your Woody Walls installation. This way, you won’t have to repair your entire wall after removal, only the areas where the holes were drilled.

How Much Do Peel and Stick Wood Panels Cost?

At Woody Walls, we pride ourselves on providing quality products at an affordable price designed to fit any budget. All our 100% real wood peel and stick panels - no matter the variety - are reasonably priced at $7.64 per square foot, with each box of peel and stick paneling costing just $149. In addition to our budget-friendly price, all our products ship free to anywhere in the US and Canada, helping keep your project cost down so you can do more with your budget.

How Do You Install Peel and Stick Wood Panels?

Our peel and stick panels are designed to make the remodeling process quick and simple for any skill level. With no power tools or extra adhesives required for a standard application, DIY wood paneling has never been easier. Each panel comes with self-adhesive tape that makes installation as simple as peeling and sticking, making our wood wall panels suitable for DIY projects and commercial installations alike. Each panel is expertly milled for the perfect fit!
Before application, we have a few recommendations:
Give your panels time to acclimate to the space where they will be installed, at least 48 hours.
It is important to ensure the application surface is dry and completely clean of dust and debris before you start to ensure proper adhesion.
Inspect your panels for any warping.
Do a dry run with your panels by laying them out in the order you would like them installed beforehand, so you never have to hunt for the right plank.
Have fun and let your creativity flow.

  1. Susie

The end result was wonderful, my bathroom has a very trendy look now, the color is so perfect. Love it! Definitely recommend these peel and stick wall panels

  2. Jennifer Beck

Delivery was at the early end of what they predicted, and everything was in great condition. The wood is about 1/4” thick and very easy to work with. We used liquid nails and small brad nails to put up the planks, and it looks amazing! This is amber-gray. Love it!!! Just for reference, my husband is very handy, and has done several projects in the past, and this took us about 7 hours of steady work, including painting the drywall first. We have a table saw, and pneumatic nailer. You could do it all by hand, but it would just take longer.

The end result was wonderful, my bathroom has a very trendy look, thanks to these reclaimed wood planks! The color is so perfect. Love it!

  4. Happy Customer

    Excellent product.

I was highly impressed with this product and feel the project turned out very well in encasing my fireplace, mantel, and TV.

    Pros:

Adhesion is excellent. As they recommend, if you are placing in damp or warmer places, take the extra step to put some construction adhesive (like Gorilla Glue) to give it some added bonding power. They cover this well in their installation guide.

Installation is quite easy but I highly recommend having a compound miter saw (with a trim saw blade) and table saw handy. I am sure you could do this with a hacksaw but it would have doubled the installation time for this job and precise cuts could have been really challenging for long rips. If you have both available, this will be a breeze for you. You can rent both for reasonable prices if needed.

The look and color is really beautiful with great variation in the wood itself. A lot of compliments on the look. I have also put polyurethane on some extra boards to do a simple backsplash in the nearby bathroom and the clear poly really brings out the color and provides a cheap extra option on varying color. 2 coats of polyurethane and you would be ready to install. This would also add dampness and heat protection.

    Cons:

    None.

    Recommendation:

I just want to reiterate that this job would have taken much longer and been a difficult challenge without access to the miter and table saws. Take that into account depending on the size of your project.

All in all, would highly recommend and will be purchasing again.

  5. Seahag

I am delighted! ABSOLUTELY thrilled with the results. When I first opened the box and saw the pieces I nearly cried with disappointment. It just didn't "feel" right. I was preparing to return the product. "OK, OK...settle down", I told myself. I read the easy to understand instructions and spread the boards out in a pattern I liked and set to work because I was sick to death of looking at the 70's dark walnut stained back of my cabinets that face the living area. (The photos will show you that situation). I am thrilled with the finished product. I cut these by hand with a portable miter saw guide and a fine tooth saw. Cut from the finished side down to the back side. That prevents chipping the edges from the finished side. Once I learned that, it was so easy. Also, you only get one chance to place it before the tape adheres strongly so go slow and carefully but it's worth it. How long did it take me to finish putting up one box? About 1-2 hours but keep in mind I'm a 72 year old woman who has to take ladders slowly and take a break for my back's sake. 🙂 This was a fun project and so worth it. Who knew wood wall paneling would turn out to be so fun?!

  6. Amy486

I love this! I covered three sides of my kitchen island with this and it looks fantastic. It was easy to put up, but be sure of the placement before removing the backing for the self adhesive as it is difficult to remove a piece to reposition without breaking it. The only thing I didn't care for was the price.

  7. Sunny4ever

Really came out great! A little on the pricey side and we installed in a bathroom so I’m not sure how the adhesive is going to hold up with the moisture. Been one month and so far all good!

  8. Cruella

Super easy to install and look really good!

  9. Customer

I accented a wall with this and it looks amazing!!!!! Installation was very easy.

  10. Smart Money

Amazing product. Looks very nice behind my bed headboard. The only problem is it is very expensive. Had to buy 2 kits to cover a king size bed headboard. Spent almost $400 and I did not even have enough to go all the way to the floor. This is a trendy look these days, but the price is quite high for what you get.

  11. Cindy Thomson

    We love these wall panels.

  12. Customer

We also used another adhesive for extra effectiveness. Very pretty and easy to use!

  13. Pavel Maslov

Great quality product! After considering wallpaper, I'm glad I went with WoodyWalls, as I got the feel and look of real wood while installing all by myself. Installation was a breeze and the self-adhesive seems very strong. Would buy again!
